We get asked this question all the time: What does GTB stand for? When we tell people it stands for “get the bear,” they quickly ask another question: “Huh?”
Let us explain. Dan Holly, the founder and managing partner for GTB Communications, is a novelist in his spare time. He wrote a novel entitled, “Sometimes You Get the Bear.” The book’s title is based on an expression Dan had heard a lot growing up, “Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you.”
Dan took the approach any good writer takes — write what you know. The book is fiction but it reflects plenty of real-life experiences. In a nutshell, the plot involves the main character going through a couple of difficult years and learning that the key to success is not having a trouble-free life but learning to deal with the troubles we face.
In short, we can let the bear get us, or we can get the bear. Dan prefers to get the bear, and that’s why he named his company GTB.
By the way, if you’re interested in reading the book, you can get it on Amazon.com. (Warning, though: It has adult language and situations.)
